Clubmen to clash at Killarney

-

Modack emerge as the overall, as well as Class A winner, ahead of the young Gareth Easom in his Golf 1.

Now with no entry from Modack at the time of going to press, Easom’s opposition is more likely to come from those formidable Beemer bombers, Gavin Cerff, Danie van Niekerk and reigning champion Achmat Achmat.

The fight to contain Shureez Brenner’s extremely quick Porsche GT2 ln the newly-sponsored Big Foot Express/execuline, Sports and GT events, has not yet been resolved. Saturday’s contenders include Steve Humble in his familiar Opel Mallock, Dawie Joubert (Porsche 996 Cup), Francis Carruthers (Juno S2000), Colin Howard (Ariel Atom 3) and Johan Engelbrecht (Porsche GT3 RS).

And with Gary Kieswetter’s Porsche GT3 facing a challenge from Keith Fourie (Audi TT) and Mike Verrier (Nardini SP 310), Class B might be just as interesting.

The Makita Supercar showdown is shaping up as one of the best. Because although the young Dayne Angel was the overall winner last month, Brad Wadeley set a marginally quicker lap time in both races. In addition there was veteran Richard Schreuder who remained in contention throughout.

The other Angel (Marcel), can be expected to swoop in the big V8 Masters events – providing Fabio Tafani doesn’t get in the way.

Gates open at 7am with the first of the 16 races due off at 10am, after the final practice and warm-up sessions. Admission is R40 for adults and R10 for scholars under 16. There is no charge for kiddies under 12.
