Man held for Lakeside murder
Police arrested a murder suspect allegedly in possession of a black VW Polo stolen after the killing of Gavin Maritz, 57, who was house-sitting at his sister’s Lakeside home.
His family found his body with stab wounds to his chest in the bedroom of the house on Monday. Maritz’s VW and two computers were stolen.
The suspect, 42, was initially arrested for possession of stolen property, then the investigation was extended to murder.
Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Andre Traut said it appeared Maritz knew the suspect.
