Property industry training course inspires

- STAFF WRITER

THE Kgodisa Training Academy was established in December 2011, and was the first to provide Seta-accredited training for the recently introduced National Qualifications Framework (NQF) level 4 facilities and property management diploma.

Thea Bezuidenhout, director of Kgodisa, which is part of Excellerate Property Services, says the academy will be presenting additional courses for the property industry.

“We received a positive response to the launch of Kgodisa and the facilities and property management diploma, so this year we will be launching additional NQF1 and NQF2 courses on cleaning and hygiene.

“There is demand for these courses from people already involved in the property industry who want to further their careers and from a broad cross-section of people from various backgrounds who want to enter the industry.

“This year’s intake includes six candidates for the facilities and property management diploma with sponsorship from companies in the property industry.

Kgodisa has sponsored Patrick Mataranyika, who wants to qualify and excel in the property industry, and JHI Properties – which is also a member of Excellerate Property Services – has sponsored Eshara Naidoo, who is employed as a lease administrator at JHI in KwaZuluNatal. Four students, Samuel Lephuting, Celia Mhlala, Robert Wilson and Richard Felisberto, have been sponsored by Fortress Income Fund,” says Bezuidenhout.

While completing the facilities and property management diploma, the candidates are receiving invaluable, practical experience in the various companies in the Excellerate group. Kgodisa has arranged for three of the delegates who require accommodation to stay in student accommodation buildings which are managed by JHI Residential on behalf of International Housing Solutions. This accommodation is paid for by their sponsor, Fortress Income Fund.
