Nedbank seminars feature expert to help entrepreneurs

- Zandi Shabalala

SMALL businesses in South Africa will receive practical and valuable advice to speed up growth this year at Nedbank’s annual Small Business Seminars under the wing of small business development expert Pavlo Phitidis.

Describing himself as an entrepreneurial evangelist, Phitidis is the chief executive of Aurik Business Incubator, which develops and sells businesses.

Phitidis said: “I believe that entrepreneurs can solve all our problems and that they are the best option for growing South Africa’s potential.”

The seminars, which are in their ninth year, will focus on providing compelling and practical advice for entrepreneurs to better equip them to grow their businesses.

According to Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies, five out of seven businesses fail within the first year in South Africa.

Globally, half of all small businesses fail in the first year.

The seminars have already helped more than 40 000 entrepreneurs with training and development.

Nedbank managing executive or retail relationship banking Sibongiseni Ngundze said: “As a bank for the entrepreneur, we continue to play a significant role in creating an enabling environment for small businesses to do business.”

He said delegates could expect to walk away with a clarity of purpose, insights into how to grow their businesses to the next level and defined steps to take to grow their businesses into valuable assets.

The seminars form part of the bank’s Banking and Beyond initiative and Nedbank’s call on South Africans to vote for small business by showing up and spending at small businesses in their community.

Business owners are encouraged to register for the upcoming Nedbank Small Business Seminars at www.SimplyBiz.co.za.
