Throw your hands up in the air for a night of funk, soul and mischief

- Arts writer

CAPETONIANS can get ready for a new experience on Saturday August 16 – The Hussle. Inspired by the award-winning movie and the era when funk, soul and mischief were the order of the day, the party is a collaboration by event maestros and men-about-town Patrick Craig (3 Blind Mice) and Mamello “Mum-z” Mokoena (Moko Java).

From the music to the venue, to the entertainment and service, The Hussle promises to treat party-goers to a multi-sensory experience never before seen in a city notorious for big nights out.

Hosted at a secret luxurious inner-city location, The Hussle will offer top-class entertainment in four different 1970s-themed groove rooms.

Punters can expect two dance floors featuring a line-up of some of the city’s funk DJs, a live jazz band, performances and live installations and a fully-serviced bar. All female guests are encouraged to pop into the “Powder Room”, where hair and make-up artists will be on hand to touch up their ’fros, frosted nailpolish and glittery eye-shadow – ensuring that they look smoking hot to boogie the night away.

So if a little bit of indulgence, some disco funk, snakeskin and sequins make you want to throw your hands up in the air, prepare for The Hussle in two weeks’ time.

Tickets are limited to 500 guests and start at R300 per person.

For R500 premium VIP guests can enjoy all The Hussle perks, as well as an exclusive VIP room complete with lingerie bar service, a smoking and cigar lounge, complimentary drinks and entertainment, including a private burlesque dance show and live stand-up comedy.
