Downs can add Evans sweetener for Dolly

- John Goliath

KEAGAN DOLLY is in demand, but will Ajax Cape Town cave in to the pressure to sell him?

The current PSL Young Player of the Season is being hunted by big-spending Mamelodi Sundowns. And, more often than not, the Brazilians’ massive cash resources manage to convince clubs to sell off their prized assets in one way or another.

Ajax Cape Town, on the other hand, are trying to plug a R11million hole in their budget that was created after the withdrawal of MTN. So they will be under pressure to take the money.

Executive director Ari Estathiou, however, rubbished reports that star midfielder Dolly is set to join Sundowns for an amount in the region of R8m.

“We are not planning on selling Keagan, I don’t know where the information and figures are coming from. At this point there is no deal for Keagan,” Estathiou told the Cape Times yesterday.

“Keagan is in demand and it’s not easy to ignore the offers. But we want to keep hold of our best players this season.”

There is talk that Dolly may sign for Sundowns and then stay on loan at Ajax for the rest of the season.

The Cape Times understands that Sundowns’ new right back Rhys Evans might be thrown in to sweeten the deal for Ajax.

But the Johannesburg-born speedster Dolly has said in the past that he doesn’t want to join Sundowns, because he wants to be assured of regular gametime.

Meanwhile, Ajax midfielder Travis Graham is excited to sign a contract extension that will see him stay at Ajax until 2017.

Graham missed the whole of last season after he was sidelined with a knee injury. But know he is looking to fight his way back into the starting line-up for the coming season.

“After a long tough season of being injured, I told myself that this season I’m going to work hard,” Graham told the club’s website.

“So far the pre-season is going quite well, it’s nice to be back on the field, trying hard to get my fitness back. My main goal is to make the starting lineup versus Amazulu,” Graham added.
