from page 14 On the one hand, the way that the insurance companies do business has changed dramatically, on the other hand there has been rapid technological progress in automotive manufacture that has had a significant impact on how vehicles need to be repaired. In recent years, environmental regulations have become increasingly more prominent in how industrial facilities are operated, adding yet another layer of complexity to the operation of the business.

Initially the business consisted of the founders plus four staff members. Today it employs 50 staff members, 15 of whom have two decades or more of experience. Despite all the technology, people remain the core component of the business and therefore training and skills development is a high priority. Vehicle manufacturers, and other industry players – such as M&L paint supplier – offer regular training courses to the staff to keep them abreast of the latest advancements in technology and materials. On top of the ongoing training in the shop, many of the staff members are enrolled in college. The panelshop is also one of only a few accredited Merseta training centres, where artisans can qualify as government-accredited panelbeaters or spraypainters.

Being a family-run business with strong roots in the local community has meant that M&L has engaged in various community outreach programmes in an effort to give back to the community. It therefore contributes to a number of charities and worthy cause s throughout the year.

Looking back on its 30 years of existence and its continued growth, the company attributes its success to its partners and stakeholders.

M&L Panelbeaters expresses its abiding gratitude to its staff for their dedication and enthusiasm. It also wishes to warmly thank its friends within the industry, including its clients, insurance companies, suppliers, vehicle manufacturers and AMM Towing for the strong bonds of fraternity and support that they have shown over the years.

M&L Panelbeaters can be contacted at 021 591 9229 or see www.mlpanelbeaters.co.za. Alternatively reach its 24-hour breakdown service on the toll-free number on 0800 44 44 45.
