Chart-topping Paolo Nutini orders it ‘Sunny Side Up’ at Kirstenbosch
AMERICAN rock band Portugal. The Man will opening for headliner Paolo Nutini at Sowing the Seeds Music Festival at Emmarentia Dam on March 21. Luckily for Capetonians both acts also visit Cape Town on tour.
Indie group Portugal. The Man has appeared on the stages of Coachella, Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, and will also perform for one night only here at Kirstenbosch Gardens on March 20.
The band’s latest album Evil Friends, was produced by Danger Mouse, the five-time Grammy award-winning producer behind everything from Gnarls Barkley and Beck to The Black Keys, and now U2, featuring melodic tracks like Modern Jesus and anthems like Smile.
Each track on Evil Friends is as different from the next, as Portugal. The Man’s previous records were from each other. The group’s everexpanding mindscape is dubbed to be “part of the their tumbling fever dream”. Organisers of Sowing the Seeds, Seed Experiences have announced that Diamond Thug is the final addition to the Sowing the Seeds line-up. They will share the stage with Desmond and the Tutu’s, Shortstraw (who now have a #one iTunes album under their belt), the soulful Bongeziwe Mabandla, along with Portugal. The Man and Nutini.
Desmond and the Tutu’s have also been chosen as the opening act for Portugal. The Man at the Sowing the Seeds Music Festival in Cape Town.

2015 Brit Award nominee Nutini will also perform two standalone shows in Cape Town at Kirsten- bosch Gardens on March 18 and 19 (Tickets are: R465, Webtickets: bit.ly/PaoloCT).
