Survivor freed using the Jaws of Life

A WOMAN was killed and another critically injured when a bakkie struck a stationary vehicle in Valhalla Park Road, Bishop Lavis, yesterday.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said the accident happened at about 1pm.

He said ER24 paramedics and Metro Emergency Services personnel found both wrecked vehicles on the side of the road.

When they assessed the scene, they found the lifeless body of a woman lying about 10m from one of the vehicles, he said.

“Unfortunately the woman had already succumbed to multiple fatal injuries. Another female patient was found trapped in the passenger’s seat in a critical condition,” he said.

Rescue personnel used the Jaws of Life to free the injured woman before transporting her to hospital.
