Outages as demand rises

Eskom is implementing staggered loadshedding due to increased electricity demand and a shortage of generation capacity resulting from technical faults at some of its power station units. “As we are currently experiencing cold weather conditions across the country, we urge electricity users to consider energy efficient ways of keeping warm,” it said yesterday. It said it would use the published load shedding schedules which are available on the Eskom website (http://loadshedding.esko m.co.za) for Eskom customers. – Staff Reporter
