Income jumps 7.2% in April

INCOME from tourism accommodat­ion rose 7.2 percent in April compared with a year earlier, according to figures from Statistics SA released yesterday. The figure was based on fewer stay units sold at slightly higher prices. According to Stats SA, the figures showed that the number of stay-unit nights sold fell by 0.5 percent while average income per stay-unit night rose by 0.9 percent. Between February and April this year, income from accommodat­ion, excluding income from bars and restaurant­s, stood at R4.6 billion, according to the figures. – ANA
