Nothing worth having comes easy

Christo Terblanche, MD G4S Cash Solutions South Africa

-

CHRISTO TERBLANCHE was appointed as MD of G4S Cash Solutions South Africa with effect from March 1 this year and speaks with passion about creating a growth and performance culture.

“We are actively focusing on making decisions faster and fostering entrepreneurial behaviour. It’s all about taking a granular approach to business planning and performance management.”

It includes fully aligning the G4S reward system with this focus and encouraging growth with improved performance. Having joined the company as Commercial Director for G4S Deposits in January 2013 he was promoted to managing director a year later. Notably, that division emerged as an international Cash360 service provider with representation in more than 12 countries.

Obviously, an earlier career in the South African National Defence Force has stood him in good stead. As did a stint as Team Manager for the Free State Rugby Union. In 2006 he was employed at Coin Security Group as Managing Director: Assets in Transit and subsequently promoted to Managing Director: Corporate Services.

In 2008 Terblanche was appointed CEO of Smart Technology, a role he held for six years. It is with obvious pride that he shares: “G4S Cash Solutions is a fantastic company with significant potential that needs to be fully unlocked. We hold leadership positions in the domains of cash in transit, cash processing, cash management solutions, cash insurance and engineering.

“Local trends and challenges offer us tremendous opportunities in all market segments in which we operate.

These include the demand for more secure transportation, processing of cash closer to source, end-to-end solutions and cash innovation.”

With obvious passion he adds: “We have talented and engaged people, exceptional innovation capabilities and a strong and trusted brand, all of which differentiate us in the market and significantly strengthen our business.

“As we pursue our mission and vision, I am confident that the strategic direction we have chosen is sound. We will strive to be more competitive and achieve leadership positions in all our service lines, we do so off a solid base.

The cash business does not allow for a lot of free time but Christo says he enjoys a round of golf, loves water sport and F1 racing. He is also a keen collector of scale 1:18 F1 Ferrari cars.

His philosophy? “Nothing worth having comes easy because success is not a destination but a journey so have fun, be happy and live with passion”.
