Justice sought for slain Pakistani reporter
ISLAMABAD: Unidentified gunmen shot dead a journalist in Pakistan’s south-western Balochistan province yesterday, police and relatives said.
Zafarullah Jatak was sleeping when the gunmen stormed into his house and fired at him in the province of Balochistan.
He died at the scene, the family said. Slain Jatak was a correspondent of Urdu-language daily, Intekhab.
No group claimed responsibility. Police said they were investigating motives.
Journalists and family members of the slain journalist staged a demonstration against the incident, and demanded that the government arrest the killers.
Pakistan had been the most dangerous country for journalists in the world, with 14 journalists killed last year, the International Federation of Journalists said in January. – Xinhua
