Woman’s body recovered from sea

Rescue services in Mossel Bay on the Cape South coast retrieved a woman’s body from the sea close to the harbour on Saturday.

André Fraser, NSRI Mossel Bay station commander, said duty crew were activated following reports from police of a body floating in the sea off-shore of Quay 4, near Mossel Bay harbour.

“On arrival at the scene, an NSRI rescue swimmer assisted by a local diver recovered the body, but despite extensive CPR efforts, the female was declared dead on the scene.”

The woman’s identity, cause of death and the circumstances leading up to it were being investigated by the police.
