Trio held over torched bakkie

Three young men have been arrested after burning a foreign businessman’s bakkie because they believed he had shot and killed a teenager for looting his shop in Soweto.

The pupil, 17, from Landulwazi Secondary School was among hundreds of Soweto pupilswhomarched in Pretoria on Thursday, demanding they be given digital tablets by the Department of Education said police spokesperson Katlego Mogale.

On their way back, the mob of pupils allegedly looted the shop and the owner fired at them. The pupil died at a nearby clinic, after which the community burnt the bakkie.
