THECOLDfront across the country and shortage of generating capacity as some of Eskom’s power station units are currently on maintenance forced the implementation of stage 2 load shedding yesterday. Eskom implemented the schedules from 8am to 10pm in a bid to build up reserves for the week ahead. Eskom said the power system was constrained and under pressure. “Eskom would like to assure customers that load shedding is implemented as a necessary measure to protect the power system,” it said. – Staff Reporter
