Teva guns for Allergan
ISRAELI drugmaker Teva Pharmaceuticals is in advanced talks to buy the generic-drug business of Allergan for $40 billion (R504bn) to $45bn, according to two people familiar with the matter. A purchase could be announced as soon as today, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the information is private. The purchase would extend a wave of mergers that has swept over the health-care industry. Announced pharmaceutical deals so far this year have topped $180bn. – Bloomberg
