Nigeria lifts ban on vessels

Nigeria has lifted a ban on 113 vessels operating in its territorial waters, a letter from national oil company NNPC said yesterday.

The letter, dated Tuesday, said the president’s approval was subject to a letter from each ship guaranteeing that they will not be used for any illegal activity. It added that the president had directed a review of activities of all affected vessels.

The edict to ban vessels was issued in July in line with a campaign pledge to crack down on corruption and theft.
