VIP officer to appear over killings

A VIP protection unit warrant officer has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife and daughter, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) said yesterday.

It was alleged that the 46-year-old officer, from the Pretoria protection unit at the Union Buildings, shot his 23-year-old daughter and his 42-year-old wife at their home in Pretoria West, Ipid spokeswoman Grace Langa said. It is alleged the couple had disagreements in the morning. He would appear in the Pretoria Central Magistrate’s Court today. Investigations were continuing, Langa said.
