Preschool vital years

-

Mealang van Heerden’s “Good quality early learning opportunities vital for our children’s future” very rightly focuses on preschool teaching. She says “research shows that the foundation for lifelong learning and success at formal school is laid in the preschool years”.

Research also says that in the first “1 000 days” infants should be kept close to caregivers.

Research also shows that if the infant has this nurturing, which is the basic right of all infants, he or she will have a more successful learning experience.

The whole of society needs to take responsibility for helping infants to have this nurturing opportunity.

One example would be to provide nurseries in the workplace and close to where the mothers are working so that this can happen. Sandra Le Fèvre
