Natural disasters: 47 die in China

Natural disasters left 47 people dead, four missing and affected more than 2.47 million people across China last month, according to official figures.

The most notable events included frost, snow and landslides, with the south suffering rare winter floods. More than 59 000 residents were relocated and some 35 000 needed emergency assistance. About 84 000 houses were damaged and over 4 000 collapsed, with 12 600ha of crops destroyed.
