Zulu king slammed over remarks supporting apartheid
DURBAN: King Goodwill Zwelithini was publicly lashed yesterday for his remarks about apartheid having built a strong economy which failed “under the so-called democracy”.
Many on social media expressed their disappointment and outrage at his comments, but others defended the king, saying he was only speaking the truth.
KwaZulu-Natal DA leader Zwakele Mncwango said the king’s statements were an embarrassment, especially coming from a leader.
The ANC declined to comment on the matter, while IFP leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi dismissed the remarks and the whole situation as sensationalism against the king.
By yesterday the story had got hundreds of likes on Facebook and was recommended 430 times.
