Hong Kong bans poultry imports

-

Hong Kong authorities said yesterday that they had banned the import of poultry meat and products from the District of Cham in Germany’s Bavaria state over an outbreak of bird flu.

Hong Kong’s Center for Food Safety said the measure was taken after a notification from the World Organisation.

According to the CFS, about 3 400 tons of frozen poultry meat and 4 200 000 poultry eggs were imported from Germany into Hong Kong from January to October this year.
