Emergency simulator for airline
GABORONE: Ethiopian Airlines is set to take delivery of a second state-of-the-art cabin emergency evacuation trainer (CEET) simulator for its Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft from EDM aerospace, a training solutions provider in Manchester, the company says.
EDM said the dual-configuration CEET was shipped by sea from the Port of Southampton and would be installed at the Bola International Airport in Addis Ababa on arrival later this month.
“Manufactured at EDM’s UK headquarters, the CEET has a dual Boeing 787/Boeing 777 configuration to allow Ethiopian Airlines’ cabin crew to train on both aircraft types.
Consisting of business and economy class seats, the interior also has a replica galley, lavatories, cabin attendant seats and flight control panels.
“The CEET is also fitted with SEPTRE, EDM’s industry-leading audiovisual system, which includes preprogrammed emergency scenarios such as aborted takeoff, engine fire, gear collapse, turbulence, ditching and decompression, making it the most advanced cabin crew training system on the market,” EDM said.
The system will be installed at Ethiopian Airlines’ training centre by a team of EDM engineers.
EDM is already contracted by Ethiopian Airlines to provide cabin crew training equipment. The company has previously supplied and installed electric motion system CEETs for Boeing 737, 767, Airbus A-350 and Bombardier Q-400 Door Trainers for Ethiopian Airlines.
The company also manufactures and supplies procedure trainers, maintenance trainers, ejection seats, flight simulators and full-size replicas for defence and military aircraft operators. – ANA
