The Juliet Rose blooms at Arc
ABRILLIANT ride from Stephane Pasquier saw the Nicolas Clement trained The Juliet Rose (FR) streak to a dominant victory in the 2€ 50,000 Gr oup2 Qatar Prix de Royallieu over 2400m for owners Markus Jooste and Bernard Kantor at the prestigious Arc weekend at Chantilly on Saturday.Almela (IRE)(Pat Smullen/Dermot Weld) finished in second three lengths back, with Sotteville (FR) (CristianDemuro/Jean-Claude Rouget) a further four lengths back in third.
Bred by Guy Heald and consigned by La Motteraye Consignment, The Juliet Rose, a Monsun (GER) filly out of the Dubai Destination mare Dubai Rose (GB), was purchased for 6€ 50,000 a t the 2014 Arqana Autumn Yearling Sale by Peter Doyle on Jooste’s behalf.
This was the fourth victory for The Juliet Rose, who won her only start as a two-year-old.
Chantilly
As a three-year old, the filly has only been unplaced once, with victories in the Listed Prix de la Seine and the Group 3 Prix da Royaumont at Chantilly followed by a third in the recent Group 1 Qatar Prix Vermeille.
Clement, who is based in Chantilly, was delighted with the victory.
“It was an excellent performance by The Juliet Rose in the Group 2 Qatar Prix de Royallieuat the beginning of the prestigious weekend in Chantilly.
The filly galloped in front from start to finish, pulling away over the last two furlongs, finishing three lengths clear from the rest of the field.
“We are extremely proud of her and are looking forward to the next season!”
Bernard Kantor and Derek Brugman, Jooste’s racing manager, were on hand to collect the trophy.
