Actor Dabula claims top spot

-

CELEBRATED actor Vuyo Dabula was named South Africa’s Best Dressed Man of the Year 2016 by GQ South Africa during its annual Best-Dressed Men of the Year Awards, held at Fine Living by David Muirhead in Parkmore, Sandton yesterday.

Celebrities and guests from the business, fashion, media, arts and sporting worlds were entertained by the vibrant duo of MCs – TV and radio presenter Tumi Voster, and musician and comedian Mongezi ‘TolAssMo’ Ngcobondwane – during the night’s celebration of 50 of the country’s most suave and dapper gentlemen.

When asked about the current state of menswear, the actor and overall best dressed winner, Vuyo Dabula, says: “It’s more adventurous than ever.” It’s a philosophy he embodies both on and off camera – whether through his roles on soapies such as Generations: The Legacy or the forthcoming feature film Five Fingers of Marseilles, or as a husband and family man.

What turns a gentleman into best dressed material? Says GQ editor-in-chief Craig Tyson:

“A common thread that binds our winners, apart from having a good fashion sense, is their knowledge of the rules and an ability to bend them to suit themselves. It’s this combination of knowledge, taste and style that sets them apart.’

GQ’s Best Dressed Men of the Year 2016 also sees the 11th consecutive return of Jameson SelectReserve as principle partner. Seth Pereira, head of marketing at Pernod Ricard South Africa says: “We are incredibly excited about the association we have established with GQ. Jameson Select Reserve is a brand for those who see a world beyond limitation and want to live a life where substance and style go handin-hand.”

The full list of SA’s 50 best-dressed men appears in the November issue of GQ, on sale now.

Supporting partners for GQ’s Best Dressed Men of the Year include Lexus South Africa and Valpré.
