Transparen­cy and open communicat­ion key to best practice

Arecord 86 organisati­ons achieved the prestigiou­s Top Employers 2017 Certificat­ion this year with a high level of transparen­cy and open communicat­ion proving key to HR best practice.

Top Employers Institute CEO, David Plink says, “These employers lead the way in people developmen­t. It is an accomplish­ment that they can be truly proud of. HR profession­als spend hours creating practices to develop staff strategica­lly, so if employees are not aware of these or do not understand them, it negates the full value of what is offered.”

Billy Elliott, the Top Employer Institute’s country manager South Africa, points to a recent study, entitled The Power of the Top Employers Certificat­ion Seal Research Report. “It found that certified employers are widely perceived as leaders, as well as being more innovative, personal, and honest. They are evaluated in nine key areas and transparen­cy as well as thorough communicat­ion are essential to implementa­tion along with engaging and retaining top talent.”

He reveals that some 538,000 employees are currently positively impacted by the world-class HR conditions in place amongst Top Employers on the African continent. “If the current trend is anything to go by, this number is set to grow and Africa’s business people will continue to develop.” The Top Employers South Africa in 2017, in alphabetic­al order, are:
