‘Unknown Space Market’ at Gugs Sports Complex

-

AN event dubbed The Unknown Space Market will be held at the Gugulethu Sports Complex on Saturday, November 26. Being the first of its kind in Gugulethu, the organizers are welcoming everyone to go and experience the first market in the area focused on community empowerment, while supporting local entrepreneurs

This township market will celebrating local talent and diversity. Founder Ntando Bushwana says “The Unknown Space Market is a collective for creatives to showcase and present their brands to people who are just like them. A trendy space for people to walk and journey through a juxtaposition of varied creative industries which includes design, fashion, food and art.”

Visitors will have the opportunity to experience Gugs first-hand.

The Unknown Space Market will highlight culture and craftsmanship with residents, who will be exhibit and sell their best work at the event.

The festive showcase will also incorporate a spectrum of local young creators, in addition to a range of food trucks and various DJs.

Bushwana started the venture with the idea of empowering local entrepreneurs and to bring a different experience to the community of Gugulethu.

Among the creatives that will be showcasing will be missAnke - a hand-made accessory brand which is located in Cape Town. It was founded by Frankie Herwels. Their accessory catalogue includes studs, earrings, necklace, bracelets over-wear and more. Zips are the missAnke’s brand signature and the collections feature various zip based designs.

LZ Designs will also be showcasing her vibrant collection. Liziwe is a young fashion designer from Cape Town. Her design focuses on “a street style mixed with African print and a bit of traditional - for both formen and women.”

At this family-friendly affair, visitors can also expect to find gourmet food from some of the best food trucks Cape Town has to offer, as well as seasoned market food traders.

All the vendors are passionate and committed, and need the opportunity to show off the fruits of their labour

Visitors will be able to enjoy live performances by a live band, plus action on the turntable, while browsing through the vendor’s displays.

“The Unknown Space hopes to headline innovative and original local talent. The market can simply not be missed. There truly will be something for everyone,” Bushwana concludes.
