Don’t waste our time

- Ahmed Moosa Pinelands

I went to the Wynberg licensing department at 10am and found it to be extremely busy, with a long queue outside.

I then went back to the Pinelands branch at 11am and found the same, the queue stretching outside the door.

I went to do some other work and went back to Pinelands again at 12.50pm and the queue was still outside the door.

I have made more than five trips in the past four days and I have to say that it is unacceptable that this amount of time is being wasted by so many people, unnecessarily.

Surely there are better ways to sort this out?

I had my last year’s licence receipt, my ID document as well as proof of residential address.

The licensing department can email the renewal forms to customers, as we don’t receive them by post anymore.

Pick n Pay, Woolworths and Checkers etc, can also do the straight licence renewals.

I understand that those who have outstanding traffic fines have to settle them first, but those people can be red-flagged on the computer system and they should go to the licensing department to pay and then get their licence discs.

But the majority of us who just want to pay the fees and get the disc should not be subjected to this kind of “harassment”.

Cape Town always had good service, but in the past three years the licensing department has fallen way behind in service delivery.

I am very disappointed with the service and the unnecessary problems we have to endure just to renew our licences.
