Poland’s EU woes

POLAND’S government has received unwelcome support for the “dismantling” of the EU from French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen.

At last week’s summit, the EU’s 27 other members ignored Poland’s objections by approving a new term for former Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk as president of the European Council. Le Pen was cited as saying by daily Rzeczpospolita on Monday that, as president, she would seek co-operation with Poland on weakening the EU, adding fuel to the Polish opposition’s view that Prime Minister Beata Szydlo is seeking to pull out of the bloc.
