First SheTrades workshops in Rwanda
RWANDAN women entrepreneurs on Wednesday and yesterday took part in the first workshops under the SheTrades initiative, which is being rolled out across the country as part of efforts to connect one million women to markets by 2020. The Rwandan edition of the initiative of the International Trade Centre (ITC), the joint agency of the World Trade Organisation and the UN, was officially launched by First Lady Jeannette Kagame on Wednesday. In line with the Aid-for-Trade agenda and the UN’s Global Goals for Sustainable Development, ITC assists small and medium-sized enterprises in developing economies to become more competitive in global markets. SheTrades, a global initiative launched in 2015 to connect women to markets, has previously been launched in Nigeria and Kenya. – ANA
