Jay Leno’s Garage Wednesday at 9pm):

Former talk show host Jay Leno (BBC Brit, is well-known for his love of cars, especially rare and valuable ones; he even featured in an episode of The Simpsons in this capacity and we all know that’s the epitomé of fame. He owns about 200 vehicles, and his Big Dog Garage is home to one of America’s greatest collection­s of cars and motorcycle­s.

Custom-built from the ground up, the garage is staffed by a crack team of mechanical wizards, who can fix, restore or customise just about anything. In this series, Leno travels the country on the hunt for the car world’s most radical rides and highlights the passion and the stories behind them.

Line of Duty (ITV Choice, Thursday at 8pm):

In season four, Martin Compston resumes his role of anti-terrorism officer DS Steve Arnott and is joined by returning stars Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar, who play DS Kate Fleming and SI Hastings, respective­ly.

Maya Sondhi is back after her stint in season three. She is joined by new recruit Royce Pierreson, who plays DC Jamie Desford. A new member of the cast is BaftaAward-winning Thandie Newton (Westworld), who will play DCI Roz Huntley.

When she captures a serial killer, forensic co-ordinator Tim Ifield alerts AC-12 to a possible miscarriag­e of justice.

Set in the fictional police anti-corruption unit AC-12, Line of Duty is a cat-and-mouse thriller probes modern policing and corruption. Winner of a Royal Television Society Award for best drama series, this show is a must-watch.

Newton – full name Melanie Thandiwe Newton – was born in London, the daughter of Nyasha, a Zimbabwean, and Nick Newton, an English laboratory technician and artist. She admits that she used to have a very low opinion of British TV but her opinion changed radically the moment she was offered the guest lead role in Line of Duty.

“I don’t generally watch TV, but I sat down and watched the third series of Line of Duty in one go and I was so thrilled by it,” she says.

“It seemed to me like a return to the golden age of TV. So even before reading the script, I was in. I really wanted to be involved in the best thing on British television. So I met the writer/director (Jed Mercurio) the very next day and said to him, ‘Whatever you’ve got for me, I want to do it!’”

Uthando neSthembu Magic, Thursday at 8pm):

The channel’s newest reality show follows businessma­n Musa Mseleku and his four wives as they navigate a polygamous relationsh­ip, their family dynamic, staying true to tradition in a modern world and the sisterhood of the wives.

Viewers will meet and get to know Mamkhulu (first wife), Mayeni (second wife), Makhumalo (third wife) and Mangwabe (fourth wife). While the wives now maintain a loving and respectful relationsh­ip with each other and have 10 children between them, the journey to peace and harmony was not an easy one. They each tell how they felt at first being introduced into a polygamous marriage, the uncertaint­y and insecurity that came with the arrangemen­t, heartbreak and eventual acceptance, contentmen­t and forming an unshakable bond with each other.
