Driver killed in taxi crash

A TAXI driver was killed and 10 others injured yesterday when a light delivery vehicle and taxi collided on the Clewer Landau Road in Witbank, Mpumalanga.

When paramedics inspected the scene, several patients were found walking around on the scene.

The paramedics found the body of the taxi driver lying trapped inside his vehicle. He had already died.

About 10 other patients were found on the scene, five of them critically injured.

One of the critically injured, a 13-year-old boy, was found lying trapped in the front passenger seat of the taxi. Rescue services had to use specialise­d equipment to free him.

Paramedics treated the patients and provided the critically injured with advanced life-support interventi­ons. They were transporte­d to hospitals in the area. – Staff Writer
