THE popular country music extravaganza, Bakgat Country Opskop will return to GrandWest , on June 4.

The 2016 show saw more than 5 000 fans flock to the Grand Arena for what has become one of the highlights of the local country music calendar.

This year’s show is expected to be a sell out success with the return of several crowd favourites, including the platinum-selling Steve Hofmeyr, Elizma Theron, Ricus Nel and Country Opskop stalwart Manie Jackson. The 2017 event also marks the return of Pieter Mohr and Die Broers who will share the stage with local legends Tommy Dell, Lance James, Matt Hurter and Dennis East and country band, The Banned.

True to tradition, the Bakgat Country Opskop, now in its sixth year, once again offers a platform for emerging performers. This year, Elandré Schwartz gets his turn to shine on stage.

The young musical theatre student is currently working on his debut album.

“As always, the Bakgat Country Opskop will provide an afternoon of hip swaying music fun for the whole family,” says Elouise Matthys, the PR and promotions manager at GrandWest.

Based on the response to previous Bakgat Country Opskop shows at the Grand Arena, she encourages fans to book their tickets soon to avoid disappointment.
