Climate on G20 list

BERLIN: Tackling climate change will be a central task of the upcoming Hamburg G20 summit of the world’s largest economies, German Chancellor Angela Merkel told MPs yesterday, following the withdrawal by the US from the Paris climate pact.

Merkel said the climate change scepticism of the US administration of President Donald Trump made it all the more important for the EU to show leadership.

“Since the US decided to quit the Paris agreement, we are more determined than ever to make it successful. We cannot wait until the last person on earth has been convinced of the scientific proof,” she added. Reuters
