Bad weather expected to hit Mother City
THE City of Cape Town warned yesterday of high seas and galeforce winds, with the possibility of flooding in areas of the city and the Cape Winelands region.
JP Smith, mayoral committee member for safety and security; and social services, said the City’s Disaster Risk Management Centre had been advised by the South African Weather Service of severe weather.
These include a gale force north-westerly winds (60-75km/ h) expected between Table Bay and Cape Agulhas yesterday afternoon into this morning.
“We call on residents to report weather-related emergencies to the City’s Public Emergency Communication Centre on 021 480 7700 from a cellphone or 107 from a landline,” Smith said. –
