American expulsions dip
WASHINGTON: Latest statistics from immigration officials show that US President Donald Trump is unlikely to meet his goal of deporting 2 million to 3 million criminals any time soon.
In January, the US expelled 9 913 criminals. After a slight uptick under Trump, deportations sank to 9 600 criminals in June.
Expulsions under Trump have remained lower than in past years.
In the first six months of the year, 61 370 immigrants with criminal records were deported, down from 70 603 over the same period last year. – Washington Post
