Why naked picture?

-

“REMEMBER the Saartjie Baartmans among us to repair a broken humanity” by Charles Ngwena gave us food for thought and of course is very relevant for us in South Africa and also in the rest of the world.

It addresses caring and respect and compassion for abused people – women or men. It is also important for women to read and hopefully listen to as so often women are the first to “throw stones” or be disrespectful to women who differ from them.

The part of this article that puzzled me was the picture of Saartjie naked. There are other pictures of her in her traditional dress which I feel would have been more appropriate and more respectful to her memory.

I wonder who chose this picture? Sandy Le Fèvre Rosebank
