Adams Mission’s new classrooms, library

PRESIDENT Jacob Zuma will today officially open the newly built classes and a library at Adams College in eManzintot­i on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast.

Zuma last year officiated at the sodturning ceremony of the constructi­on of the classes and library to realign the renowned learning institute on its 10-year vision to revitalise, redevelop and reposition Adams College as a premier institutio­n for future generation­s.

Adams College is historical­ly one of the first few training institutio­ns in South Africa where Africans could attain a decent education and skills during the darkest period of black oppression.

The school counts among its alumni such luminaries such as Dr John Langalibal­ele Dube; Chief Albert Luthuli (former president of the ANC); former president of Uganda, Milton Obote; Sir Seretse Khama, former president of Botswana; as well as former AU Commission chairperso­n Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma; and Inkatha Freedom Party president Inkosi Mangosuthu Buthelezi.

Adams College has also produced many other celebrated profession­als both in South Africa and the continent at large.
