Cape Town’s crisis

-

THE present water situation in the City of Cape Town has come about entirely because of the lack of planning by the DA government in the province and city. (One should also not forget about the previous ANC/Nat alliance.)

It now seems that even the City’s emergency plans are way beyond schedule.

Thanks to the DA’s inefficiency, Ms Patricia De Lille now has plans to tax water users to make up for the shortfall in income. This is preposterous. I hope Capetonians will, for once, act together and simply refuse to pay this tax.

For some time my water bill has been R8 per month. As a result of using so little water, my garden, in which I have invested many thousands of rand, over 33 years, is now completely devastated.

And on top of this, I will now be expected to be taxed a large amount for using almost no water! Just imagine the many billions of rand lost by gardeners all over the city.

None of this seems to worry Ms De Lille and her cohorts.

The Western Cape and the City desperately need a new political party who will put the interests of its inhabitants at the top of its agenda. Concerned water user
