‘Wanted’ man snared

MOSCOW: Among the three neutralise­d militants during a counter-terrorist operation in Russia’s Dagestan Republic was the leader of the gang, who was linked to terrorism-related crimes, the Russian National Anti-terrorism Committee (NAC) said yesterday.

“As a result of the clashes, three criminals were neutralise­d. One of them has been preliminar­ily identified. According to NAC’s available informatio­n, it is one of the leaders of the gang group, Aligadzhi Khamutaev, who was put in the wanted list in 2011. He is suspected of eight murders and attack on a police convoy,” the statement read.
