Mo Bros are getting hairy for men’s health
TODAY marks that time of year when males sprout moustaches in the name of men’s health.
To mark the start of the campaign today, Movember will host a shave-in event (the exercise of clean-shaving to start growing one’s mo fresh for the month) at the Silo District at the V&A Waterfront at 11am.
Movember sees Mo Bros and Mo Sistas (as they are affectionately known) raise funds and awareness around the often ignored issues of men’s health.
The organisation announced yesterday that Health MEC Nomafrench Mbombo will attend the shave-in. Local radio presenter Carl Wastie will be dyeing his mohawk blue on the day to highlight testicular cancer.
“Men are dying too young, on average six years earlier than women. The state of men’s health in South Africa is in a crisis. Men deserve better when it comes to their health, and they need to take action now to make this change happen.
“Too often, guys facing prostate cancer and testicular cancer are facing an uphill battle because of late detection. Too many men are unaware of the health risks they face.
“We’re giving men the tools they need to live life, and live it well,” said the Movember Foundation.
