Officers hailed for arresting suspects

WESTERN Cape police commission­er Khombinkos­i Jula hailed the officers behind the arrest of four suspects believed to be involved in random shootings in the Nyanga and Mitchells Plain areas who were hiding in the area.

The four, aged between 17 and 24 years old, were arrested by members from Operation Thunder, Tactical Response Team and K9 Unit in Mission Station near Crossroads in Nyanga following a tip-off.

“At about 7.40am, the teams pounced on the four suspects, two were found in possession of two pistols with no serial numbers, the third suspect was found with an unlicensed firearm and 60 different rounds of ammunition. The fourth suspect was found in possession of drugs (20 tik straws and 13 full, one half and a quarter of mandrax tablets),” said police spokespers­on Noloyiso Rwexana.

The officers also recovered a vehicle reported stolen in Nyanga last week. |
