TO SPREAD festive cheer and comfortfor-feet among some of the Wellington area’s most underprivileged children, who start their primary schooling for the first time next year, South Africa’s largest tannery has donated 83 pairs of Bronx school shoes to them.

The donation by Mossop Western Leathers (MWL) was made through Moms for Wellington non-profit organisation, which helps children from the surrounding areas’ underprivileged communities with early childhood development, a feeding scheme and preparing them for school.

MWL chief executive Gert Kruger said: “We’ve been supporting charities in Wellington and surrounds for several years.

‘‘The beneficiary this year is Moms for Wellington, whose main focus is to care, feed and teach around 160 children between the ages of three and six.

‘‘As they have children on their way to primary school at the end of each year, we thought it’s a good idea to donate Bronx school shoes.

“These genuine leather shoes offer excellent quality and durability.

Kruger said their company believes in supporting organisations in the community in which it operates and that their company contributes annually to deserving causes, especially those involved with the young people in Wellington and surrounding areas.

“We truly believe you should give something back and would like to thank Bolton Footwear and Bronx for their support in making it possible (to make the shoe donation).”

Bolton Footwear head of group marketing Stuart Hopwood said they were delighted to be involved, even if it was in a small way.
