PILGRIMAGE

TIBETAN monks attend a ceremony at the Langmu Lamasery during the Sunbathing Buddha Festival, in Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province, in the People’s Republic of China, on Sunday. Thousands of Tibetan pilgrims, locals, and tourists from around the world gathered as the first rays of sunlight hit the giant portrait of the Buddha, which is unfurled on the hillside opposite the monastery. The festival is held at the monastery every year in the first month of the Tibetan lunar calendar.
