Saudi bid for India and Pakistan peace
SAUDI Arabia has vowed to play a role in defusing tension between India and Pakistan after a deadly bombing killed more than 40 paramilitary troops in Kashmir.
“Our objective is to try to de-escalate tensions between the two countries and to see if there is a path forward to resolving those differences peacefully,” Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said yesterday before Saudi Crown Prince Mohmmad bin Salman’s arrival in India after a two-day visit to Pakistan.
Prince Mohammad was conferred Pakistan’s highest civil honour, the Nishan-e-Pakistan award, at a ceremony at the president’s office and residence in Islamabad.
