I HAVE fond memories of restaurant hopping in Durban’s Florida Road. Starting with pizza and cocktails at Italian restaurant Spiga, which was then followed with dancing at Cubana where we would stay until the early hours.

We always felt safe there as the street was buzzing with energy and people. In Cape Town, Bree Street is one of those streets like Florida Road, lined with great eateries that cater for your mood and pocket. From fine dining restaurants to tapas-offering bars, the street has a real vibe. In Joburg, Parkhurst’s restaurant strip is one of the most popular for eating and hanging out. I vaguely remember a good night out there eating hot wings while listening to a live band.

Each of the cities offers something unique when it comes to food and different experiences. When travelling to another city, make a point of checking out that city’s most popular streets… it’s likely this is where you will find the cool locals as well.
