Heart-warming tale of a little church and its caring community
EVERY now and then, one comes across an unpretentious little book that warms the heart and restores one’s faith in the goodness of people and their community.
This is such a book. Subtitled: An anecdotal history of the little church and its community, it tells the story of St Oswald’s Anglican Church in Milnerton.
It has been caringly compiled by Susan Stougie, a longtime resident of Milnerton and member of the congregation. The title is fitting as Stougie is a talented weaver, stitcher and designer of all things relating to church fabrics. From kneelers, through banners to altar cloths.
But the most significant theme of the book is the warmth of community that comes from the various activities that parishioners have been involved in.
