NATHAN ADAMS
SOMETIMES reality TV can be very real. When it’s done right, the format can be engrossing and when it’s done wrong it can just be gross. There are so many reality TV shows out there that there really is something for everyone. My friends have very different tastes when it comes to escapist viewing. While some gush about Keeping Up with the Kardashians, others want to watch a show that’s a bit more grounded in everyday life and experiences.
It’s a fine balancing act because I love both.
Zodwa Wabantu Uncensored is a true reflection of her life. Already she’s a colourful character and the rollercoaster of emotions and experiences you get to witness is true to the definition of uncensored.
Although a lot of what she says and does makes the front pages of the tabloids, the show’s a great way for the artist to take control of her own story and allow fans (and anyone who’s curious) to peak behind the headlines. It’s a funny look at a celeb South Africa just can’t get enough of.
Zodwa Wabantu Uncensored is on Moja Love (DStv channel 157) on Saturdays at 7.30pm.
There’s no getting away from it, the Kardashians are here to stay. The drama on screen a bit delayed because we see it months after it’s taken place on social media and in the tabloids. Drama delayed is still drama though, and Keeping Up with the Kardashians XVI has it in buckets.
If you tune in this weekend you’ll be just in time to see Khloé Kardashian and her cheating partner Tristan Thompson, as they split, and Kylie’s best friend Jordan Woods is caught up in the scandal.
There are always a few behind-thescenes nuggets that the Kardashians save for their popular reality show – something that wasn’t in the media. This is why fans still watch the show, because they get to see how the family dealt with the headlinemaking news that kept gossip columnists busy.
Keeping Up With The Kardashians is on E! Entertainment (DStv channel 124) on Sundays at 8pm.
Say Yes To The Dress is a successful wedding fashion reality show that now has some added flair – superstylist Gok Wan. In Say Yes To The Dress Lancashire, he helps out at the award-winning, family-run Ava Rose Hamilton bridal boutique in the heart of the countryside in Lancashire, England. Gok is on hand with the dedicated and passionate consultants to help nervous brides find the perfect wedding gown.
But if the dream dress doesn’t exist, Gok will work with the team to create it. Every appointment has its own challenges.
Say Yes To The Dress Lancashire is on TLC (DStv channel 135) on Sundays at 7.05 pm.
