Nimitz has all the guns

- DAVID THISELTON

THE best bet on the Turffontein card tomorrow is Nimitz in the last race over 1 800m. This Captain Al colt is a half-brother to Soft Falling Rain and on debut over 1 200m was green and outpaced before using an impressive stride to fly home.

Nimitz's dam Gardener's Delight won over this 1800m trip and he should beat a field of exposed maidens.

In the sixth race over 1 000m, a Pinnacle Stakes event for fillies and mares over 1 000m, La Bella Mia carries top weight but is the best in according to official merit ratings and will be a tough nut to crack as she has speed and class and a middle draw of five. However, the speedy Sarah could be a threat.

She is 3,5kg under sufferance but a 4kg claimer alleviates that disadvantage and she is also on the up.

She also has the often favourable standside draw.

Ulla is speedy and improving and from a fair draw can reverse form with Dalai's Promise, so can also be included.

In the seventh, a Pinnacle Stakes event over 1400m, Infamous Fox can use his exceptional turn of foot to overcome a tricky draw over an ideal course and distance.

He is the best in at the weights. Approach Control is an impressive, long-striding individual and although he would prefer further he should be running on strongly from a good draw. Divine Odyssey has proven class and also packs a strong finish, so should run well fresh over a trip on the sharp side.

It is a pipe opener for most of them so Flying Winger, who has his third run after a layoff could go close over a suitable trip. Doosra has a form chance and Russian Prince is interesting stepped up in trip as he definitely has some class.

The fourth race, a Graduation Plate over 1160m, is also tricky as the trip is too sharp for most of them and most look to be having pipe openers.

Crown Guardian

Crown Guardian is the class and form horse over this trip but the concern is the number one draw. Chief Of State is 5,5kg out at the weights with the best weighted Against The Grain but this is alleviated by the 4kg claim of Cole Dicken and he looks to have scope for improvement.

Epic Dream has caught the eye over sprints before and is joint second best in at the weights. Against The Grain and Green Haze both have scope and class and must be included despite returning from 224 day rests respectively.

Th second leg is a MR 80 handicap over 1 000m and Prix Eclips is interesting having shown pace and finishing just two lengths back when dropped to 1 160m last time with blinkers on.

He now has a 4kg claimer up but he does have the potentially disadvantageous number one draw.

Tripod

Tripod and includes too.

The latter's last run in the Grade 2 Debutante over 1 200m at Hollywoddbets Greyville can be ignored as he was caught wide throughout and on his debut win he must have a big shout.

In the eighth race over 1 400m, a MR 83 handicap for fillies and mares, Queen Supreme has substance and is impressive but the same can be said of Flying High and they can fight it out. Scarlet Tiger are must
